![]() ![]() I’ll add that Mormons have their own body language in prayer. The prayers are not the result of previous reflection they’re usually on-the-spot prayers but they all follow this formula. I find those four steps in virtually all Mormon pray-ers and their prayers. ![]() Prayers are made to Heavenly Father through Jesus’ name. Third, petition for whatever blessing(s) comes to mind. Second, giving thanks for whatever comes to mind. First, an address to Heavenly Father (never to Jesus, Mary, the Spirit, saints, or anyone else – just Heavenly Father. Mormon prayers, while unique to each individual, follow a super-predictable pattern. (Admittedly, I’m sure I’m not the only one that has prayed a robotic rosary or Our Father.) They also think that Catholics repeating the same prayers such as the Our Father or Hail Mary is a bit robotic, and not as authentic as prayers-from-the-heart. Mormons find that Catholic prayers are too formulaic, repeating the same words week after week. Mormon prayer is, in my opinion, very formulaic – though Mormons would disagree with me.
